Polmans was disqualified from a Shanghai Masters qualifier after the accidental misfire into chair umpire Ben Anderson on October 3.
After losing a match point Polmans reacted by angrily smashing the ball which hit Anderson in the face.
The 26-year-old Australian is ranked 140th in the world rankings and was leading Italy's Stefano Napolitano in the match when he was disqualified.
Kyrgios responded on X, formerly Twitter, that he was "interested to see what the fine will be... all things considered", and referenced the $28,000 fine he copped for making an obscene gesture with a water bottle in 2018.
It's uncertain if Polmans will receive a further penalty from the ATP.
Countryman John Millman also responded to the incident and said there were "no excuses" for it.
"Really hope the umpire is okay. They should be safe working in their environment," he said on X.
"No one would feel worse than Marc about this. He's possible the nicest person I know."
Polmans was among four Aussies eliminated from the qualifiers in China on October 3.
While Rinky Hijikata, James Duckworth, Dane Sweeny and Philip Sekulic all won their matches to reach the main draw.
